Utah career programs offer allied health training in four fields

Salt Lake City and Clearfield medical, dental, and massage school offers rapid training time, allowing students to transition to work.

Once the territory of only the wealthy elite, post-secondary education is now a requirement for a professional career. The problem is, many four-year colleges are quite costly, leaving students with year’s worth of educational loan payments to make. Furthermore, many students must work to earn money for basic amenities during college, forcing them to finish a four-year academic program like nursing school in 5 or even 7 years. Increasingly, students who want more education — but are facing budget and time constraints — turn to professional certifications, like medical assisting and dental assisting, for a fast-track beginning in the work force.

The Certified Careers Institute has campuses in Salt Lake City and Clearfield, Utah that offer four distinct certification training programs. Earning a certification in a professional field is a popular choice for busy students. The Certified Careers Institute medical assistant (http://www.cciutah.edu/medical-assisting-clearfield.htm),  medical office specialist (http://www.cciutah.edu/medical-office-clearfield.htm), dental assisting (http://www.cciutah.edu/den_assist.htm), and massage therapy certificate (http://www.cciutah.edu/massage.htm) programs provide learning solutions for busy people who want to jump right into a career.

The certified medical assistant training program at Salt Lake City and Clearfield offers students a complete education in the art of medical assisting. Students learn how to care for patients, including taking vital signs and assisting physicians in physical exams. They are able to understand and use medical terminology to assist in diagnosing and treating patients, and can inform patients about the basics of self-care. They also learn how to perform routine lab procedures and use proprietary office software. As the Baby Boomers retire, more and more medical assistants will be needed to take care of them. The government predicts that a registered medical assistant career is one of the fastest growing careers in the country, for the next ten years. Students can further their medical assistant education by completing additional training programs after leaving the Certified Careers Institute.

CCI Salt Lake City and Clearfield also offer a medical office specialist certificate program. The Clearfield and Salt Lake City programs both focus on medical billing and coding for the office specialist. After being instructed in basic keyboarding and word processing skills, the medical billing and coding program instructs students in the fundamentals of medical claims processing and examination; hospital billing; collections; and correct follow-up on delinquent claims. Students learn, through the medical office specialist education, to understand medical reports, and to complete in-patient accounting procedures as well as general office procedures. CCI students are taught to be in compliance with ever-changing governmental health care regulations — the bureaucratic changes are one reason why medical billing and coding specialists are badly needed. After completing the medical billing and coding certificate program, students can work as, or alongside, medical administrators in large, complex hospital administrations or small, private doctor’s offices.

The dental assisting program at CCI Salt Lake City offers students the preparation they need to assist dentist’s chair-side. As the population ages, and individuals retain more teeth, rather than getting dentures (thanks to modern dental practices and improved dental hygiene), dental assistants are increasingly needed. Dental assisting students learn the anatomy of the human mouth and jaw. They then study dental materials science such as the mixing of casts and amalgams; the taking and reading of dental x-rays; chair-side procedures; and dental office records-keeping and management techniques. With the dental assisting certificate training program — which is offered at the Clearfield campus as well as the Salt Lake City campus — students can seek work at private or governmental dentists’ offices. They can continue their education, as well, training to become dental hygienists.

One increasingly popular career field that can be studied at Certified Careers Institute is massage therapy. To become a certified massage therapist, students complete training and certification at the Salt Lake City or Clearfield, Utah CCI campus. They learn the basic principles of massage therapy. Techniques taught at the Clearfield or Salt Lake City massage school include human anatomy/physiology/kinesiology; popular massage techniques such as Swedish and other massages; and common massage therapist professional tips and tricks. Students can open a private massage therapist practice, or can work for a larger massage therapy chain upon completing the certificate program. Various professional areas are in need of massage therapist workers, including sports medicine specialists and geriatricians. As massage therapy gains recognition among medical professionals as a legitimate cure for ailments, the number of massage therapist job openings is expected to increase.

Located at two campuses in Utah — Salt Lake City and Clearfield — Certified Career Institute offers targeted certification programs in allied health and healing arts. Students can participate in supervised, practical externships that allow them to acquire real-world experience while applying their classroom knowledge. The financial aid department helps students find solutions to paying for school, including securing grants and low-interest loans. The career services department at the school assists students in finding post-certification employment, offering tips on organizing resumes, writing cover letters, and giving good interviews. Upon completion, graduates of allied health certificate training programs such as those at CCI Salt Lake City or CCI Clearfield can seek work in private medical practices, large medical research facilities, nursing homes, convalescent care units, and healing arts specialty clinics.

For more information about the allied health programs offered at CCI Salt Lake City or CCI Clearfield, visit the school’s Web site, <a href=”http://www.cciutah.edu/” target=”_blank”>www.cciutah.edu</a>. WHAT DID JESUS DO IN EGYPT FOR 5 YEARS? Documentary of Miracles & Teachings in Egypt

Traditional ‘wisdom’ says if you want to avoid controversy, don’t discuss religion, sex or politics. But if you want a GREAT Talk Show interview, you should discuss all three!

We offer you an interview with the producer of an extraordinary new documentary film, “Jesus: The Lost Years,” a.k.a. “The Greatest Story Never Told!”

During your interview with producer bestselling author/investigate journalist PAUL PERRY and Producer NORMAN MILES, your audience will be enthralled by a unique discussion of the big three ‘taboo’ topics: Religion, Sex and Politics.

RELIGION: Perry and Miles will shatter paradigms of thinking about religion, without contradicting existing Judeo-Christian scriptures. Instead, he merely fills in the gaps—those silent passages of the bible that don’t explain what Jesus did as a child—using archeological digs, artifacts, and writings contained in the libraries of Christian churches in Egypt that are over 1000 years old. Many such treasures were touched by Paul with his own hands and captured in his new documentary film.

SEX: A Virgin birth? Talk about controversy! But in The Lost Years, Paul Perry and Norman Miles give documentation of utterly amazing travels of The Virgin Mary, Joseph and Jesus during their five highly eventful years spent in Egypt. Perry offers incredible stories of Egyptian Coptic Christian leaders he met with in Egypt and ancient artifacts that still exist in Egypt today, including a purported footprint impression made by the child Jesus while in Egypt.

POLITICS: For several years, the Mid East has dominated national news. From the historic Peace Accord photos of Egypt’s Anwar Sadat to today’s almost daily bombings in Iraq, the politics of the Middle East are far from boring. But can you imagine how dangerous it must be for a Christian minority to be living in the heart of Egypt? More amazing is that the Christian Coptic Church has existed in Egypt for nearly 2000 years with thousands of Christian artifacts, scrolls, and relics still intact with a church that continues to thrive in the middle of a nation that is 85% Muslim! How’s this possible? God has His ways.

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE TELLS US ABOUT THE HOLY FAMILY’S YEARS IN EGYPT?

Not much. The Bible contains few verses about Jesus as a child. It tells about the Holy Family fleeing to Egypt to escape King Herod’s murderous vow to kill all baby boys, to the family’s weary journey through the Sinai Desert and eventual return to Palestine (Mat. 2:14).But what really happened during Jesus’ five years in Egypt? Can evidence separate fact from speculation? What stories of Jesus in Egypt exist?

ABOUT THE FILM…

Jesus: The Lost Years, a documentary film based on the book Jesus in Egypt by New York Times bestselling author Paul Perry, seeks the answers, and unveils fascinating insights into “the greatest story never told.”

Intrigued that only three years of Jesus’ life are presented in the Bible, the plight of the Holy Family in Egypt became Perry’s obsession—he interviewed dozens of people, from document specialists, priests and bishops to Egypt’s Coptic Pope—and began studying ancient texts to piece together the unknown. “There are no stories in the Bible about what Jesus did in the five years he was in Egypt, but I knew that such stories existed in the form of oral tradition and stories written outside of the Bible,” says Perry.

Perry teamed with internationally acclaimed Historical Researcher John de Bry and filmmaker Marlin Darrah to traverse the sands of Egypt, following the Holy Family’s actual route, a path that stretched nearly 1,000 miles across the burning sands of the Sinai Desert and down the verdant Nile. It was on the Holy Family Trail, a route outlined by Egyptian Christians and officially certified as authentic in 2000, where Perry heard powerful stories of medical miracles and impressive visions. “Jesus left a trail of miracles that were followed like bread crumbs by King Herod’s soldiers in hot pursuit,” Perry says.

Romantic Comedy Life With Fiona
Nominated For “Best International Feature Film”
At Popular Italian Festival
Winner Announced in December 3, 2007
On the Heals of Winning Two “Best Feature” Awards Back Home in the US

LOS ANGELES, CA – The filmmakers of the romantic comedy feature Life With Fiona trek half-way around the world in December to attend the awards ceremony for the International Feature and Shortfilm Festival of Rome (formerly known as the Il Corto Shortfilm Festival), which has just opened their prestigious competition to feature-length films. Writer-director-star Greg Lobb, a veteran standup comic, writer and stage comedy producer, and his chief collaborator on Fiona, producer Brendan Davis, are thrilled to have their film nominated for a “Best International Feature Film” award at this Italian festival now in its fourth year.  The ceremony takes place on Monday, December 3, 2007.  The winners in all categories will be announced during the Grand Gala Award Ceremony to be held at the Manzoni Theater in Rome.  During the same evening three “Luigi Comencini International Awards” will be given to three celebrities of the Italian movie industry.  For more information on the festival please visit http://www.shortromefilmfest.com. For more information on Life With Fiona please visit www.lifewithfiona.com and www.myspace.com/lifewithfiona.

Following a recent weekend that saw Life With Fiona play two film festivals – Temecula Valley in Temecula, CA and Estes Park in Estes Park, CO – and add two more awards to their growing list in the process (winning both the Jury and Audience “Best Feature” prizes from Estes Park on September 16th), filmmakers Davis and Lobb were understandably excited at the news that their film was also the very first nominee ever for “Best International Feature Film” at the soon-to-be named International Feature and Shortfilm Festival of Rome (formerly known as the Il Corto Shortfilm Festival), the largest shorts festival in Europe and one of the biggest in the world.

Festival president Mr. Romano Francisci explained, “In the past 4 years we’ve screened more than 2200 short films in Rome, Florence, Pesaro, Naples, and Catania; everywhere we went we were asked when we would open to feature films.  We decided it was the right time to rename the festival and to open to feature films that will now compete in 3 categories: Best International Feature Film, Best Director, and Best Cinematography.  The selection was extremely difficult due to the high quality of all of the films.”

Says Life With Fiona producer Davis: “The last few weeks have been the kind that get you through the tough ones, honestly.  We had an amazing time playing to great audiences in Temecula and as the Opening Night Feature at Estes Park, so the two wins in Colorado were extra-sweet icing on the cake, and then to get a phone call from Italy informing us that we have to go to a black-tie awards gala in Rome this December almost feels like too much – but hey, we’ll take it!” he laughs.  Adds Lobb: “I’m eager to go to Rome because I understand they have really good Italian food there.”

Life With Fiona follows office drone Scott Parker (Lobb) as he attempts to keep up with his new girlfriend, free-spirited wild child Fiona Cerny (Avery Clyde).  Scott is a regular guy who’s unlucky in love, and Fiona is his ideal woman: funny, beautiful, and sexually aggressive.  Unfortunately for Scott, she’s also completely insane.

Medical Training Certificate School in New York Offers Six Degree Programs

A specialized allied health training school for medical careers, the Mandl School offers six comprehensive certificate programs for popular health care career fields. The Mandl School, College of Allied Health in New York, NY, offers fast-track training classes for busy professionals. The school features a growing student body and experienced teachers.

The health care field is growing at an astonishing pace, partially because the population of the United States continues to age. Nursing assistants, medical assistants, medical billers and coders, and the like are needed in a variety of health care settings. The goal of the Mandl medical career training programs is to give students the classroom theory and hands-on experience that will serve them well in their medical careers. Shorter academic programs mean that students spend less time in the classroom, and more time on the job, accumulating professional experience. Health care jobs are appealing to many young New York professionals because the training time can be short — and the salaries and benefits can be quite attractive.

The Mandl School, College of Allied Health was founded in 1924 as a training college for certified medical assistants. Since then, it has grown, adding new degree programs and faculty, and welcoming more students to train for New York medical careers. Students can seek additional credentials after attending the Mandl School — for example, a student who receives a nursing assistant certification might eventually seek a career as a head nurse, after receiving additional training.

There are several other benefits offered along with a Mandl medical career training education. Professionals are on-site at the school to offer academic or career guidance, as well as job placement assistance. This guidance is important for students when seeking professional work in the health care field after graduation. Fully-equipped, hands-on labs with medical supplies and learning aids also help students to take their skills into the real world. After completing one of the six academic career training programs, students will be prepared fill the large number of health care job vacancies within and outside of the New York job market.

Mandl offers the following six professional medical training programs at its New York City campus:

• Medical Assisting Training (http://mandlschool.com/medical_assisting.htm)
• Nursing Assistant (http://mandlschool.com/nursing-assist.htm )
• Dental Assistant Training (http://mandlschool.com/dent.htm)
• Medical Billing and Coding Training (http://mandlschool.com/billing.htm)
• Surgical Technologist Training (http://mandlschool.com/surgical_technology.htm )
• Phlebotomy Technician Training (http://mandlschool.com/phlebotomy.htm )

The Mandl School, College of Allied Health in New York City is a place where students can opt to get started in the nursing or medical assisting field. For example, upon completing the nursing assistant training program, nurse assistants experience fulfilling careers that include plenty of patient contact and the opportunity to strengthen skills when on the job. They can continue training to become registered nurses (RN) while earning an income. Mandl’s nursing assistant program consists of fewer than sixty classroom hours, and is concluded with an externship designed to completely prepare the student for his or her nursing career. Medical assisting is another degree possibility at Mandl. It is one of the fastest-growing career areas in the United States, with 50 percent growth projected in the coming decade. Medical assistants are professional medical workers who lighten the workplace burden of physicians and nurses. They perform basic laboratory procedures and medical tests, assist in patient records management, and help with patient health insurance forms. Some seek additional training after completing their medical assistant certificate programs.

Mandl’s academic programs include real-life career training through supervised externships. The externships provide students with opportunities to test-drive their classroom skills before entering a health care field. Mandl’s other education programs – medical billing and coding, dental assistant, phlebotomy technician, and surgical technologist – lead to health care careers that are also rapidly growing. Students begin their medical careers at the entry-level, filling urgently needed health care roles. The health care field demands workers who can enter the workplace with high degrees of competency and solid grasps of medical ethics. Even more importantly, health care careers require prior training and experience. In today’s competitive job market, prior experience is essential to securing a good job. This is especially true of the job market in New York City.  The Mandl School, College of Allied Health gives students a chance to get hands-on experience worthy of putting on their resumes.

The Mandl School, College of Allied Health is located in Midtown Manhattan, at 254 West 54th St. It is surrounded by the exciting and vibrant New York Theater District, as well as many popular shops and eateries, like Saks Fifth Avenue and the Carnegie Deli. Mandl’s campus is just a stone’s throw from Central Park, as well. The school is easily accessible by several Metropolitan Transit Authority subway lines, including the 1, A, B, C, D, E, N, Q, R, and W lines that feed into Queens, Brooklyn, and the Bronx. The school itself is located in the Famous Studio 54 Building. Prospective students are encouraged to come by and find out more about the medical career training programs. The school offers guided tours of the classroom and practical facilities, as well as opportunities to sit in on lectures and experience the teaching methods used at Mandl.

To find out more about Mandl’s medical career training programs, visit the school on the Web at <a href=” http://www.mandl.edu/” target=”_blank”>www.mandl.edu</a>, or call 212-247-3434.

What’s in a (heating and cooling) job?

Reminiscent of blue-collar era, students turn increasingly to Phoenix air conditioning, refrigeration schools for stability

Refrigeration, heating, and cooling jobs are some of the most stable career options in the U.S. market economy. This may seem surprising – every other day, a certain kind of doomsday economics article appears in the business section of a local newspaper. This article inevitably bemoans the American economy’s conversion from a labor-based to a service-based economy; one in which unskilled labor is cheap and necessary.

However, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and cooling) is a manual labor career field facing a serious shortage of workers. For example, in Phoenix, air conditioning technicians are desperately needed to install, repair, and maintain cooling equipment.

From an economic standpoint, this labor shortage is surprising news: HVAC and air conditioning careers offer more stability and much higher wages than most jobs out there. Schools like the Refrigeration School, Inc. (RSI) (http://www.refrigerationschool.com/) in Phoenix, Arizona, recruit many students who are forgoing a 4-year degree. These Phoenix air conditioning, heating, and cooling students are interested in HVAC careers because of the challenges, stability, and earning power.

HVAC post-graduation placement: The outlook’s good.

Schools such as Phoenix’s RSI boast high rates of career placement after graduating from accredited HVAC, heating, and air conditioning programs. That’s because these schools have connections to many major industries that require skilled HVAC technicians for all sorts of duties. RSI HVAC career training programs offer targeted placement assistance (http://www.refrigerationschool.com/career-dev.htm) to help students get in touch with companies that are recruiting. Student visibility to employers is one of the biggest differences between securing a job and coming up empty-handed. The Refrigeration School, Inc. makes sure that students and employers can meet.

The U.S. job market itself is another reason RSI HVAC school grads have such good fortune in the career arena. Americans concerned about the energy crisis are interested in environmental conservation and energy efficiency. Refrigeration, heating, and cooling students can install, diagnose, and repair the latest, Earth-friendly HVAC technologies. RSI uses the “STAR” (http://www.refrigerationschool.com/course-refrig.htm) training system to instruct students in the art of troubleshooting and diagnosing HVAC systems and component parts. Employers recognize, and require hands-on competency from their new HVAC hires.

Career opportunities knocking

The job opportunities for RSI graduates are plentiful, especially in the Southwestern United States. Many cities in this area are developing rapidly, and require an astonishing number of private homes and mega office complexes to keep up with job and population growth. In Phoenix, air conditioning is a must-have in any residence or office park. HVAC grads can work in a number of residential or commercial settings. So, while one grad might choose to make a career out of installing air conditioning in Phoenix office parks, another might choose to focus on HVAC maintenance work in private suburban homes.

Air conditioning specialists — in Phoenix or elsewhere — might get to install or repair systems in giant law firms or big city hospitals, with opportunities to work on many different projects. Refrigeration grads from RSI can find diverse opportunities, — such as working on the hundreds of A/C units in the new Arizona Cardinals stadium, or servicing soda machines at newspaper press rooms and bustling marketing firms. Or, cooling and HVAC grads can pay homage to fun and simple times, servicing freezers and equipment at grocery and corner stores, or for old-fashioned slushy or ice-cream stands. The possibilities for Refrigeration School, Inc. grads seem to be endless.

For more information on the Refrigeration School, Inc’s Phoenix air conditioning, HVAC, and refrigeration technology training programs, visit <a href=”http://refrigerationschool.com/” target=”_blank”>RefrigerationSchool.com</a> or call (602) 275-7133.
