The Ultimate in Self-Love: Fulfill Your Purpose and Share Your Gifts!

When you think of self-love, what comes to mind? A nice spa and a sandy beach are my first thoughts!:) And those are great, but in addition to that, does your everyday work fulfill your inner desire to change the world? Does it feed your soul and not just your pocketbook?

If not – or if you know you could open up to more, here are 3 tips to focus on this month:

1) Know what your life’s purpose and life’s work is.

The best clue to your life’s purpose and life’s work is the thing you naturally do, that you do so easily you would do it even if you didn’t get paid. Maybe it came from a childhood wound, maybe it emerged from an accidental discovery of something in adulthood. But wherever it started, be sure you see it for what it is: your unique gift to share with the world!

List your passions, your deep-felt values and the causes you support, and the life lessons you have mastered. Who do you show up as in every situation – family, neighborhood, or work? If you are usually the peacemaker, the idea-generator, or the mouthpiece for the group’s position, don’t take it for granted! It is what you are uniquely qualified to offer – even if it seems disguised in the ordinary occurrences of your life.

2) Identify and transform any self-limiting beliefs.

Once you identify that gift, you may notice that you stop yourself from moving forward with it, you procrastinate, get busy, or just plain shy away from it. Or you open to sharing your gift in a personal setting, but become tongue-tied when you have the chance to ask to be paid for it. Sound familiar?

The beliefs that hold you back are often an attempt to protect you from your truly greatest fear: of ridicule, failure, or even success! The key to overcoming them is to face them, not to ignore them. Write out what the belief is that seems to be operating in your life, e.g., “I don’t believe I’m good enough or credible enough to do this work.” Then, choose the belief you would like to embrace instead, e.g., “I am fully empowered, equipped and ready to share this work, and I am the perfect person to do it!” Repeat the new belief – with feeling! – as often as you can throughout the day, for 21 consecutive days. In most cases, you’ll start to see the new belief infiltrating your self-concept by that time!

3) Create a picture of your ideal communication channels – and manifest them!

One of the biggest privileges we have in life is to create our life the way we want it. Whether your job title is CEO, coach, speaker, author, healer or manager, you can decide what areas you want to emphasize most (and especially if you own your own business!). If you prefer one-on-one in-person coaching sessions, you can do that! Other choices include group coaching – virtually or in person, live events, keynote speaking, workshop facilitation, article and book writing, blogging, video training, and more!

Write out a vivid description of how you want your ideal business and work to be – how you would spend the ideal day, how and where you are working with clients – and what kind of clients too! Are you a best-selling author? A standing-room-only speaker? A part-time coach who focuses mainly on raising great kids? Any of these visions can be attained…but you must first define what you want.
